Racing (At hobby level).

I have been competing in Formula Off Road (Advanced 4x4 racing) for many years and have always wanted to try racing on asphalt.

Finished at 1'st place Gotland 2000

2003.

One day I went to "Sturup raceway" a racetrack 20 min from my home. Every second Monday during summer a club called K.A.K have open track day for circuit racing.
This was very fun and I joined this club.

After some events I found out that my suspension needed some upgrade (Se MODS).
I rebuilt the suspension with poly bushings, ACE/ Eibach springs and Koni shocks. I also bought a set of Toyo R881 racing tires witch I put on the stock 88 Formula 15" Fiero rims.

Cleand and painted with new Prothane poly bushings. The new ACE/Eibach coils. New Swedish alu licence plate. Looks American? Now it is LOW! Toyo R881 Racing tyres.

The first time I participated I run the lap (1100m or 0.684 miles) in 55-56 seconds. At the last event for the 2003 season with the modifications on the car and me learning how to handle the car I ran the lap in 49 seconds. This is quite a good lap time for a 140 hp and 1250kg / 2760 lb car.

Toyo 881 and suspension.

I realized that "track day events" didn't satisfy my needs totally because of these events may not include competing or driving against the clock due to insurance issue.
So I joined another club called MGCC. This is a sport car club founded in 1956 by some MG car enthusiasts. During many years this club had developed so today you can get elected as member if you have almost any two seated "sport car".
MGCC now have a couple of hundred members and among other things they arrange an annual club racing series. This club racing series is split up in 5 different races. They follow the "Clubmens formula" regulations from SBF (The National Swedish auto racing organization). "Clubmens formula" regulations are adapted for cars used both on the street and for racing.
There are many different classes based on car weight / engine power ratio. I compete in the "smallest" class: Roadsport C = more than 7kg / hp.
MGCC's club racing series is based on time practice results also due to insurance issues.

9 May 2004. The first race this Year were at the race track: Ring Knutstorp

I finished 9'th out of 20 in my class. I think this is OK, because of my 10 kg/hp and that it was my first time on this particular track. Afterwards there were a optional "race" with standing start. In this race I finished 6'th out of 20!

I'm behind a mush faster Porsche 924 turbo. The Lotus chasing me is from a nother class called "Historic" After one of the races. Lining up for start. Finish line. I ended up at 6'th place.

25 July 2004. The second race this Year were at Sturup Raceway.

After first time qualifying I was in 3rd place! After second time qualifying I was in 5th place, and this is my result for KM2 for the Club championship. As usual there was a "race" afterwards. It began to rain before the start so the track was wet. I do not have so mush experience of driving on wet track so I decided to take it easy.
I was in second row in lineup (4th place),and got a good start. I was second after the first curve.
I stayed in this position and finished in second place in the race, so mush for taking it easy ;-).
I think I was faster than the car that won but he "closed the door" good in every corner, and I could not pass him.
